Das Buch ist perfekt für Anleger, die den Wert von Unternehmen rational feststellen wollen. Es ist nichts zum Schmökern. Damodaran erklärt an praktischen Beispielen, wie durch Zusammenfügen von Storys und Zahlen der Innere Wert bestimmt werden kann. Das macht er auch für Start-ups, für die nur wenig Informationen verfügbar sind. Und er beschreibt seine Fehleinschätzungen und wie der diese korrigiert hat.
Da ich schon von "Investment Valuation" von Herrn Prof. Damodaran absolut überzeugt bin (ich arbeite regelmäßig damit), waren meine Erwartungen an Narrative and Numbers entsprechend hoch. Diese konnte das Buch aber erfüllen. Besonders positiv sehe ich, dass aus Sicht des Jahres 2014 einige bekannte, schnell wachsende Unternehmen bewertet wurden und zwar auf Basis verschiedener Annahmen. Theorie wird praxisnah angewandt. Damodaran zeigt, wie wirklich schwierige Fälle über Szenarien angegangen werden können. Im Nachhinein ist es natürlich auch sehr interessant zu sehen, wie sich die untersuchten Unternehmen wirklich entwickelt haben.
